Google Forms alternative for coaching mock tests
Short answer: Google Forms quizzes let you set points and an answer key and grade automatically, for free. Google's quiz help page does not cover negative marking, timers or rank lists. Mocxam adds an exam-style CBT screen, negative marking, sectional timers, batch ranks and mistake diagnosis on your branded portal, free for 25 students.
Google Forms is where many coaching institutes start online tests, and for a quick class quiz it works well. It runs out when you need tests that behave like the real SSC, banking or railway exam.
What Google Forms does well
- Free with a Google account
- Point values and an answer key per question
- Automatic grading and score release
- Quick to share a link in the batch WhatsApp group
Where coaching tests outgrow it
- Negative marking: not described in Google's quiz help, so teachers fix scores in a spreadsheet
- Time limits and sectional timers: not described in Google's quiz help
- Rank lists across a batch, and comparison between batches
- A screen that looks like the CBT exam students will sit
What Mocxam adds
- Marking from the exam blueprint, including negative marking
- Exam-style CBT screen with the question palette and sectional timers
- Automatic scorecards, batch ranks and mistake diagnosis
- Your institute name and logo on the student portal (Starter Pod and above)
- CSV import of students and a private question bank
Moving over
Start with one batch on the free plan. Import its students by CSV, add one test you already ran on Google Forms, and compare the evening of work afterwards.
